General: stuff online, books, music, writing, travel, ice cream, chicken, lemonade, Bailey's, languages, cartoons, kids, volunteering, thinking, listening, learning, watching people cook, teaching, helping, disability issues, Santa Cruz, Portland, DC
Music: jazz, blues, swing, salsa, spanish and english standards, opera, older pop, things the cool kids are into if well-recommended, older hip-hop, "world" music, stuff with guitars, stuff you wouldn't expect me to like (see also: Peace of Heart Choir)
Movies: Big Fish, Amadeus, Shrek, High Fidelity, Chocolat, Aladdin, Love Actually, Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Television: Because I have cable now: Scrubs, ER, Law & Order(s), The Sopranos, 24, Big Love, The Simpsons, Cartoon Network, lots of disturbing specials on TLC and Discovery, Food Network by the gallon, the ABC soap opera lineup, and quite a few infomercials, for instance.
Books: I'm a sucker for Harry Potter, a closet Stephen King fan, and I've learned to like James Joyce, among others. I'm a book scatterbrain, but my single favorite book is one of international folk tales.
Heroes: People who are honest, kind, and hardworking but not holier-than-thou, and who know how to appreciate others for who they are. My 9 year-old nephew.
